THE TOTAL NUMBER of
vehicles increased by 4,07% from 7,186,537 on 31 December 2003 to a total of
7,479,178 on 31 December 2004. On a Provincial percentage basis the biggest
increase was in Limpopo where the vehicle population increased by 5,68% from
314,623 at the end of 2003 to 332,506 at the end of 2004. On a percentage
basis, the biggest increase per vehicle type was for motorcycles which
increased by 15,63% from 162,871 at the end of 2003 to a total of 188,320 at
the end of 2004. The percentage increase per vehicle type per Province is
shown in the graphs below..
