NEW BASE FOR
MACK TRUCKS

Mack® Metroliner

NOW, under the Volvo Southern Africa umbrella, Mack Trucks is set to prosper with their bonneted range of power trains. This well-known brand of hard working and powerful vehicles will be sold and serviced from the comprehensive national Volvo Trucks dealer network. Mack will find sales and service support in other African countries through appointed dealers in these regions.

"It is an natural extension of the global picture that Mack should be part of the Volvo operation in Southern Africa," says Danny Abiri, local Managing Director. In 2000 the Mack brand was acquired through the AB Volvo/Renault SA agreement. The Mack brand is extremely powerful in its own right with a rich history spanning more than 100 years," he adds.

Mack will offer a variety of models primarily suited for construction and heavy-duty applications. Local customers will benefit by having access to a more extensive model line-up with good stock holding and sound service and parts back up.

"We source all our models from Mack Trucks Australia, where all right-hand drive models are produced at the Wacol Truck Plant near Brisbane. We have a very strong relationship with Mack Trucks in Australia and as a result receive a great deal of support from them, " says Abiri.

Mack took part in the recent Auto Africa exhibition with the large and impressive Titan truck and the Mack 6x4 cement mixer unit.

Mack Trucks South Africa will have its headquarters at the Volvo Southern Africa HQ in Jet Park Johannesburg.
