Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicles. Committed To Your Success

Mercedes-Benz
Commercial Vehicles;
the answer to your
transport solutions

ONE OF THE CORNERSTONES of our partnership to our customers transport solutions is leadership. This is reflected in our performance in most segments of the market. In terms of unit sales we are the undisputed market leaders and offer one of the widest range of products. Phenomenal sales really only comes with dedicated staff and loyal customers. We are committed to supporting these sales and promise to provide the highest standards of service that you can expect on all Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicles.

Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicles have two distinct goals: to meet the business operator’s demand for the most cost-effective transport solution and to deliver what the driver is looking for – exceptional engine performance, safety, reliability and an ergonomic work environment that can fully handle the wide range of day-to-day demands. Mercedes-Benz has taken up this challenge and provides special products for each market segment that are ideally adapted to specific operating requirements in terms of engineering and design. The range extends from longdistance trucking and distribution, to heavy-duty requirements in the construction industry and highly specialised applications with unique demands, to vehicles that offer high transport capacity in all sectors of the van market.

To meet customer demands for more performance, higher payloads, more comfort, greater safety, and, above all, more cost-effectiveness, we are continuously developing the present product range and, at the same time, complementing it with innovative new solutions.

Our flagship truck for long-distance haulage, the new Mercedes-Benz Actros was voted "European Truck of the Year 2004" reaffirming that we are the world leader in technology. The "well-proven" features of the Actros is the safety concept with Telligent systems. The Telligent braking system with Brake Assist introduced in 1996 is acknowledged as the best worldwide. Auxiliary systems such as stability control, Lane Assist, proximity control, antiroll control and many more have been available for some time.

The recently introduced Axor is the answer to fleet transportation for short-radius distribution and middledistance long-haul transport. The Axor leads the way in the 4x2 truck-tractor market in terms of efficient payload. Combined with the ultimate in fuel economy, power and reliability the Axor offers maximum efficiency.

The versatile Atego is well known for its agility. The Atego is a versatile commercial vehicle, ideal for light or heavy shortradius distribution, light long-distance haulage and light construction site operations and municipal services. Its design and technology is proven worldwide and is currently exported to 80 countries around the world.

The Sprinter panel van offers high transport capacity with car-like standards of comfort and safety. The Sprinter’s "alrlound safety concept" marked a quantum leap for Mercedes-Benz vans in terms of active and passive safety. The standard-fitted electronic stability management systems, namely Acceleration Skid control (ASR) and the Electronic Stability programme (ESP) provide handling standards that assist the driver in difficult conditions.

The Vito is a single van offering a wealth of solutions for goods and passenger transport for mixed applications. The Vito has established itself as the most preferred vehicle of choice in its category and has recently been voted internationally "Van of the Year 2005".

As the name suggests, DaimlerChrysler People Transport is the bus division. This division was formed with the sole purpose of providing an integrated solution to a bus operator of any size or make within Southern African. People Transport aims to identify, pioneer and implement continuous best practices within the passenger market industry. The safety concepts of Mercedes-Benz buses go far beyond the standards required by law. Safety features are rooted in the experience of the car, bus and coach design that’s typical of Mercedes-Benz. It is designed to provide the right answers to all passenger transport safety questions.

Whether the priority is high-level riding comfort for longdistance travel or ruggedness in urban environments, whether the challenge is to achieve enhanced passenger capacity or compact efficiency and flexibility, we develop advanced concepts for perfectly tuned people transport solutions.

With new technology comes opportunity for continuous enhancement of driver skills. As market leaders, we see ourselves as having a particular responsibility not only to the operators but also the trucking industry, and this comes in the form of professional driver training. Our Driver Training Academy has been set up to provide training programmes and tuition on safe and economical driving techniques for all its commercial vehicles marketed in Southern Africa. Positive results are being seen by all operators and dealers sending their staff on these training programmes, all of whom confirm that is a definite improvement in the driving style of the candidates, resulting in improved maintenance and fuel saving.

The Mercedes-Benz brand is about more than just excellent products and standards of quality. It also stands for environment-friendly production and products. Mercedes- Benz aims to be a full-service partner to its customers at every step of the way, from procurement, custom-designed financial services, operation of the vehicle, right through to the remarketing process. With the current upgrading of our new dealer network facilities, our sales service, parts and product availability can only improve. With this in mind close partnerships are formed with the servicing dealer, the customer and the Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicle team.
