JAC Co. Ltd came into existence on 30 September 1999, the former body of which was Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Factory, originally established in 1964. In 2001 JAC registered on the Shanghai Stock Exchange. Today JAC employs more than 7000 people with total assets of over R 5.3 billion and occupying an operational area of nearly 4.05 million square meters. With a product range of bus chassis, 0.5-50 ton trucks, 7-12 seater MPV’s, SUV’s, and automobile components such as chassis, engines and gearboxes, JAC is capable of producing 200 000 fully assembled vehicles per annum for domestic and export markets worldwide. JAC exports fully assembled products to 30 countries worldwide, including North Africa, and are supported by manufacturing facilities in 6 other Asia Pacifi c countries. JAC was also the fi rst Chinese Manufacturer to open a design center outside China. The design center was opened in June 2006 in Torino Italy. All future product designs will be a combination of European styling with one of the best manufacturing processes in China. 

The combination of Chinese cultural discipline with International ties has ensured that JAC has been the preferred bus chassis for 12 consecutive years in China. The JAC light duty truck was awarded the best brand loyal light truck and is the second best seller in China. The China Automobile Industry and Automobile Union of Chinese Mainstream Media also voted the JAC light duty truck the best commercial vehicle in 2005. Within its introduction in 2005 the Gallop heavy duty truck was awarded "the best new heavy duty truck and best heavy truck brand" in China.
