On a mission to minimise
downtime

Spartan Truck Hire's workshops are one department with very close links to loss control operations. When it comes to a breakdown on the road, both departments have a common destiny in recovering a vehicle and it's cargo as soon as possible.

Spartan's truck workshops are on a continuous 24-hour standby 365 days a year to deal with any emergency.

The size of the Spartan fleet and flat reporting structures mean that short communication lines between CEO, Arnold Friedman and Andy Herbst, workshop manager, result in rapid decisions to minimise vehicle downtime.

The workshop has warranty service approval from major truck manufacturers and the capability of overhauling all major components such as engines, gearboxes and differentials.

"Having our own workshop operations means we are able to respond more swiftly to our own fleet when required than if all technical support was outsourced," explains Herbst.

As in all departments in the company, here too consideration for the customer is paramount. "Response times are how we are judged. It's not just about the fact that we fix our fleet at competitive rates. It's also about our level of service and reaction to customer situations that counts. Our workshops give us a competitive edge."
