New web-based
tool ANYONE doing business without an internet connection these days is going to go the way of the dodo before too long, bar the odd shoe shiner or vegetable vendor. A new tool designed specifically for the dangerous goods transport industry has hit the digital highway. According to Grant Kerr of Companion Consulting, developers of software solutions for the logistics industry, " DGWebtoolis an invaluable tool for all those who supply, transport and receive dangerous goods. It is a searchable webbased application containing a database of over 2900 substances. Registered users can access it 24 hours a day, through any computer which has internet connectivity and a web browser." The features in DGWebtool include the ability to ensure repeatable and error-free checks on substance compatibility and exemption quantities, as well as reducing the time taken to complete these checks, adds Kerr. "Since the database is hosted on a central server, all updates to the database, the compatibility chart and ‘calculator’, and other parts of the tool are immediately available to all registered users. DGWebtool also has a special offer for dangerous goods ‘subject matter experts’, where it can be included in their offering to their customers." With all the confusion plaguing the DG industry right now, the use of innovative tools like DGWebtool can help make a positive change, concludes Kerr. |
