With the holiday season on us, it is apt to discuss road safety issues. However, instead of using words, I am letting the pictures on this page tell a touching story to a nation which normally goes out of its way to knock truckers as non-caring, irresponsible road users. They're not. They care about the safety of other road users and are, once again, joining FleetWatch and its partners - Engen, Arrive Alive and a new, much welcomed partner in this initiative, Auto & General - in our annual trucker's safety poster campaign. Some 6 000 posters and strips are being put onto the backs of trucks and flat decks to bring to the attention of all road users some vital safety messages. This is a huge task as revenue earning trucks have to be taken off the road to have these applied. And it is all being done voluntarily by caring trucking companies. So to all motorists out there on the roads, we say: Truckers are your friends and your allies; they carry the goods that make your life more comfortable so please care about them just as they care about you. Share the roads with them in harmony and Arrive Alive.
