TruckRental

While most truck rental organisations have a spread of vehicles to meet a vast array of transport applications, Richard's Rentals, based in Wynberg, Johannesburg, has dedicated itself to the tipper market with great success.

According to co-owner and manager, Richard Goldman, "A major aspect that sets Richard's Rentals aside from its competition is that it is a dedicated tipper hire business. Tippers and only tippers are hired out which enables Richard's Rentals to give knowledgeable service to its customers."

Once again, it's the old adage of 'not spreading yourself too thin' if you want to offer your customers quality service. "All our vehicles are fully compliant i.e. fitted with beacon lights, fire extinguishers, seat belts, warning buzzers and protective covers. What's more, all the vehicles are fitted with the C Track system which enables the trucks to be tracked on a 24/7 basis, ensuring optimum performance and safety."

Rapid growth
Richard's Rentals commenced trading in 2003 with one small tipper, says Goldman: "The fleet has grown to 21 tippers ranging in size from 4m³ to 10m³. We have recently taken delivery of Fuso model FV 26 10m³ tippers fitted with Duys Domex Steel Bodies. It is envisaged that a further 15 tippers will be added to the fleet during 2007. These will be 6m³ and 10m³ units."

Another differentiating factor and contributor to the success of the operation is that all trucks go out with a highly skilled driver, employed by the company, says Victoria Lamb, co-owner and manager of Richard's Rentals: "Drivers undergo a stringent 2 month probationary period and only the best are retained. Since commencement, Richard's Rentals has built up a loyal and appreciative customer base which includes some of the blue chip companies in the construction and mining sector."

Richard's Rentals is able to undertake contracts anywhere in South Africa, says Lamb: "We operate on a 24/7 basis and all our vehicles are under maintenance contracts. Should the need arise, the closest service agent will carry out maintenance, service or repair work, ensuring the best possible uptime for our customers."
