TOHF Trailers' moved to new, bigger premises in New Germany to accommodate its growing manufacturing division, built on its repair division's solid reputation for service and quality.

In the six years ago since TOHF Trailers was established as a small trailer repair operation based in New Germany, KZN, the company has grown to become one of SA's leaders in trailer design innovation, with a reputation for robust, light weight trailers at competitive prices, says its owner, Barton Bennett.

"Manufacture was taken as a natural extension to the repair facilities and we were, through intensive research, able to establish the company as a manufacturer in the shortest possible time," he says.

"The introduction of the TOHF-Tract retractable container trailer proved to be the niche product that all companies look for, quickly establishing us as the market leader in this area," adds Bennett, "and proving that innovative thinking and sophisticated design methodology is eagerly embraced by trailer operators."

TOHF produces ultra-lightweight container trailers, timber rigs with folding uprights to allow the trailer to be piggy-backed on the horse for unladen travel, cane trailers, tankers as well as the more conventional platform, skeletal and tautliner combinations, says Bennett. "Over the last six years or so, TOHF Trailers has expanded considerably, both in factory space and staff, invested heavily in state of the art CAD and 3D modeling software, installed a CNC machine shop and continuously refined the trailer designs. The utilization of laser cutting equipment has also had a marked impact on the factory methodology, permitting previously unattainable accuracy to become the normal state of affairs and considerably enhancing trailer production."
