Car drivers have several choices of map books covering points of interest for tourists and city street and municipal information. But what’s out there in the way of maps for truckers, who do have very specific needs when it comes to travel info? Short answer, the Southern Africa Commercial Road Transport wall chart, produced by Johannesburgbased Technical Documentation (Pty) Ltd. "The wall chart covers the SADEC countries and shows the actual topography of the region so drivers and managers know where the terrain gets mountainous," says Adrian Giles of Technical Documentation. "The map is extremely detailed and is a comprehensive planning tool for transporters with valuable information on distances between locations, where truck-related sites are, their co-ordinates and their respective contact details. Having all the right information in one place saves time and money not having to hunt through lots of websites, phoning people, etc." The Southern Africa Commercial Road Transport wall chart costs R349 including lamination and postage.
