Nissan Diesel’s new 350 KT 4x2 truck tractor is said to be suited for usage by furniture removal companies, suppliers of general goods, beverages as well as some mining operations.

Nissan Diesel South Africa has launched the latest model in its Quon extra heavy truck range, the UD 350 KT 4x2 truck tractor.

In contrast to its predecessor, the UD 290 KT, the UD 350 KT features a new and improved GE13 TB engine, offering 44kW (20%) more power, 274 Nm (23%) more torque, ultra high pressure injectors, electronically controlled unit injectors, improved combustion efficiency and optimum performance and fuel usage. The UD 350 KT boasts 257kW of power at 1 800 rpm and an impressive 1 470 Nm of torque at 1 100 rpm.

It has an improved Escot II 7-speed transmission that offers undemanding shifting and ease of operation. This all leads to easier, less stressful and safer driving.

Built to stringent Euro 2 exhaust emissions specifications, the vehicle incorporates a redesigned boreless turbo charger as opposed to a through bore on the UD 290 KT. In terms of economy, the UD 350 KT sports a new aerodynamic design which lowers air resistance and with the new engine, fuel consumption is greatly improved, supporting low life cycle costs. The increased cab tilt angle of 65 degrees makes servicing the vehicle also much easier.

As in all vehicles, safety is an all-important concern and Nissan Diesel has done its utmost to ensure that the new vehicle is equipped with the most up-to-date safety features including a stronger, more durable cab structure, stronger floor and bumper frames, a shock absorbing steering column and wheel, fog lamps, headlight height adjustment, bigger side windows and ABS.

Driver comfort has also been taken into consideration as Nissan Diesel invested in a new front and rear cab mounting system for the UD 350 KT, which offers increased stability, as well as reduced rolling, pitching, shock, vibration and cab shake. While the cockpit has received a new ergonomically designed look and feel, the driver’s seat has also been redesigned with improved reclining and sliding angles, increased lateral travel, as well as armrests and added large rubber cushions.

Other features of this new and improved vehicle include improved harness and wiring protection, a lockable fuel cap to protect against fuel theft, new airconditioning, central locking by key and a new redesigned air suspension cab. All these features work together to ensure higher levels of comfort, less fatigue and increased productivity.

“With the introduction of each new Quon model, we are taking great care to ensure that we provide a high quality product that will sustain our objective of providing the highest possible level of durability ultimately giving customers as much up-time as possible,” says Johan Richards, chief operating officer at Nissan Diesel South Africa.
