The saga of the inconsiderate transporters
By Patrick O'Leary It's tough at the top when you have to make decisions like raising the price of fuel by 72% such as President Robert Mugabe's government in Zimbabwe has recently done. However, if you think it's tough at that level, try being on the receiving end of such decisions - that's real tough as evidenced by the Zimbabwean transporter pictured alongside this story who can no longer afford to buy diesel - when there is any - but has made a plan to get the bread delivered on time to the President's breakfast table. |

A first move for Volvo Calvert Worldwide Movers has taken delivery of its first Volvo FM10 4x2 360hp truck tractor. The unit is also the first in the fleet to be branded in the new livery since the company was bought out by the global relocations organisation, The Crown Worldwide Group, in October last year. While bringing Volvo into the fold is a new move for the local Calvert operation, it is one taken with confidence based on the fact that the Crown Worldwide network of relocation companies has branches in more than 44 countries, many of which operate these units in their fleets. |
