VOLVO'S
FOR
CALVERT
WORLDWIDE
MOVERS

Calvert Worldwide Movers has taken delivery of its first Volvo FM10 4x2 360hp truck tractor. The unit is also the first in the fleet to be branded in the new livery since the company was bought out by the global relocations organisation, The Crown Worldwide Group, in October last year.

While bringing Volvo into the fold is a new move for the local Calvert operation, it is one taken with confidence based on the fact that the Crown Worldwide network of relocation companies has branches in more than 44 countries, many of which operate these units in their fleets.

"I've had reports from my colleagues elsewhere that they are happy with the performance and reliablility of these vehicles," says managing director, Tim Calvert.

International experience aside, he is confident that the FM10 will perform well in this region. "It is ideally specced for the removals industry and for the long-distance routes we run regionally within South Africa as well as into our neighbouring states of Zambia, Zimbabwe - and further north into Central and East Africa."

Spotted on a game drive next to the Sabie River in the Kruger National Park - Calvert Worldwide Movers' first Volvo FM10. The location does not lend weight to the rumour that Calvert is going into the game relocation business. Tim Calvert has, however, bought a game farm which he is now hiring out for conferences. Give him a ring. Judging by the brochure, it looks like a great place to discuss things like elephants and trucking.

The new logo reflects the new corporate identity of the Crown Worldwide Group while retaining the locally known "Calvert" name to ensure customers know they are still dealing with a reputable company with a 20 year track record on the home front.

Another company which has added more Volvo's to its operation is Bloemfontein-based Eureka Transport which recently bought a further four FH12 460's. This brings to 10 the total number of Volvos in the fleet. The units were delivered straight off the Nampo Harvest Fair show stand.

The company's long relationship with Volvo began in 1994 when one FH12 was purchased on trial. That particular unit was sold last year with 1.5 million kilometres on the clock. In 1995, they added two new FH12's and also took over a fleet of four good used FH12 models.

Johan Engelbrecht, owner of Eureka Transport, says he is happy with the service received from Volvo and feels that now the company is 100% owned by Volvo Sweden, the future is secure.
