VOLVO OCEAN RACE COMPETITION |
The race is on? On September 23rd, the world's greatest and most daring round the world yacht race begins in Southampton when eight yachts will set off on a 32 000 nautical mile race described as the Formula 1 of sailing. The first port of call is Cape Town where the first yacht is expected to arrive on October 23rd.
FleetWatch, in conjunction with Volvo Southern Africa, is running a competition to enable one lucky couple to enjoy the exciting atmosphere at the Waterfront when the yachts are there. The prize is worth R10 000.
Hosted by Volvo Southern Africa, you and your partner will be flown to Cape Town for the weekend of November 10th and 11th where you will be put up in a magnificent hotel and will join in all the activities culminating in the restart of the race on November 11th. So let's now find a winner.
Clues have been given in the past few issues of FleetWatch but here's the bottom line. To win here's what you have to do:
1) Name the South African sailor who is part of the Assa Abloy team.
2) Name any three of the yachts taking part in the race.
3) Predict which yacht will arrive in Cape Town first.
Tip: You can get all the info you need and follow the progress of the race by going to the official web-site at
www.volvooceanrace.org. Get the whole family involved. It will be great fun.

fleetwatch@pixie.co.za before the cut-off date on October 18th. You stand an extra chance if you send us a photograph - in a suitable creative setting - of the toy model of the Volvo FH12 and yacht issued in our May edition. If you don't have a model, phone us and we'll get you one. Gets the kids involved in this one. They'll love it!
