First Aid Requirements

What the Priorities of First Aid ?
First Aid should be applied to the following life-threatening conditions, in the following order of priority :

  • Casualty is not breathing
  • Severe bleeding
  • Casualty is unconscious

As a First Aider, you are making a personal commitment to safety at home, in the workplace and on the road, for others as well as yourself. It is essential that your First Aid Kit is always at hand and contains all the necessary equipment you may need to handle an emergency situation :

Accident Recorder Kits :
Over and above your First Aid Kit it is recommended that you keep an Accident Recorder Kit in the cab of your truck. This kit provides you with everything you require to accurately record the details of the accident :

  • Batteries
  • Chalk
  • Disposable camera
  • Pen and paper
  • Tape measure
  • Torch

A Basic First Aid Kit Contains :

  • Adhesive elastic roll (25mm x 3m)
  • Assorted adhesive strips
  • Burn dressing
  • Conforming bandages (50mm x 5m)
  • Cotton wool
  • CPR mouthpiece
  • Crepe bandage (75mm)
  • Eye patch and Eyegene (5ml)
  • First Aid dressings (50mm x 75mm)
  • Germolene (20g)
  • Latex gloves
  • Safety pins
  • Scissors and tweezers
  • Swaba and sterile gauze
  • Triangular bandage x 2
  • Wound cleaner (50ml)
