Piet Swart, head of marketing for Continental Tyre SA, says the company took the decision to secure the European Super Truck event for South Africa as a powerful statement of Continental’s radial truck tyre technology.

"The events will also celebrates 10 years of Continental’s involvement as the official tyre sponsor of the European Truck Racing series.

"Continental is one of the leading truck tyre manufacturers in Europe and we are confident that with the new products and services we are currently introducing, market gains will follow. Truck racing - all on Continental tyres - will underline the strength of our technology and our commitment to trucking.

"In general, we believe that the Continental Super Truck races will draw considerable public attention to the truck industry and the vital role that it plays within our economy," he says.

Footnote: In total, 17 special support trucks - 12 of which will contain the actual racing trucks - have made the trip to South Africa. They arrived in Port Elizabeth on November 6^th. Included are two of Continental’s new showpiece tyre support vehicles which carry the "Tyres for Motorsport" logo.

At least 120 personnel - including team managers and drivers - have flown to South Africa to bring to this country the best that Europe has to offer. And it's thanks to Continental Tyre SA that this is so.
