Nissan Forklifts - a natural complement

"It is an inescapable fact that forklifts and trucks share a synergy within the distribution chain," says Pieter Ackermann, general manager, sales, Nissan SA Truck Division, in explaining the logic of integrating the Nissan Forklift operation into the division.

Internationally, forklifts constitute a separate division of Nissan Industrial Machinery and Equipment, which incorporates a range of materials handling equipment. In South Africa, the experience has been that the forklifts are a natural complement to Nissan Diesel.

Nissan Diesel's philosophy of total quality and service is applied in supporting the forklift range. A network of dedicated forklift dealers as well as Nissan SA Truck Division dealers have been appointed countrywide, as well as in neighbouring states like Namibia and Botswana, thereby ensuring nation-wide representation.

A large parts stockholding is carried by the Nissan parts distribution centre in Rosslyn, near Pretoria and serves the dealers throughout South Africa. This is apart from the comprehensive warranty and technical back up that goes with all Nissan Diesel products.

Through its national dealer network, Nissan Forklift offers a complete range of lease plan options and maintenance contracts to suit any business requirement.

The Nissan forklift range comprises diesel/petrol/LPG machines with capacities from 1.75 to 7.0 tons. In addition, electric forklifts from 1.5 to 2.5 tons are available as well as an electric reach truck with a 1.5 -1.75 ton capacity.

Proof of Nissan's belief in the superiority of its product is provided by the fact that all units come with Nissan's warranty of 2 000 hours or 46 kilometres per hour, which is double the industry standard.

"Over the past two and a half years, we have succeeded in carving a niche in this highly competitive market," says Ackermann. "Our market share has increased substantially, particularly in Gauteng and the Western Cape regions.

"We can attribute our success to the fact that the management of the division is tapping into the resources of the Nissan Diesel infrastructure and are committed to the product with enormous passion and optimism," he says.

The same philosophies will be applied in incorporating Renault V.I. products into the Nissan SA Truck Division.
